The Spanish influence on architecture is reflected beautifully throughout Florida as seen in some of our churches, from the Cathedral Basilica of St. Augustine to a Spanish monastery built in 1141AD (which was dismantled and eventually transported to Miami in 1964).
The old Monastery of St. Bernard de Clairvaux is now the Episcopal parish Church of St. Bernard de Clairvaux and serves as the Episcopal Diocese of Southeast Florida. Located behind an arched stucco gateway, admission is charged to go beyond the gateway. The monastery and gift shop are frequently closed due to church activities or private events.
