Flagler's Big Three

Three churches built in the late 1800s with the help of Henry Flagler are within walking distance of one another: Grace United Methodist Church, Memorial Presbyterian Church and Ancient City Baptist Church.

Flagler used a Spanish Renaissance Revival Style of architecture for Grace United Methodist Church, which he built in 1887, with the team of Carrera and Hastings.

In 1889, he financed the Memorial Presbyterian Church, also called Flagler Memorial Church, in memory of his daughter, Jenny Louise Benedict. The dome is made of copper and was designed in the Venetian Renaissance style.

The Ancient City Baptist Church was organized in 1887, and in 1895, Flagler donated the land to build a church. This Romanesque Revival Style church is made of tan brick with a Norman style tower.
